My students chose the following for their lead. I will admit that there was quite a bit of discussion and there was still a bit of dissent.

Criteria for Selection: Students felt that since it dealt with a major contender for the presidency who was taking time off during the final push, it was a story of major importance.The number of people directly impacted by the story was small, but the indirect relevance was huge, according to the majority of my kids.
